My brother called me unambitious. Years ago. Unambitious? I had thought there was something wrong with me. Two years before I retired a friend of mine who was diagnosed with high-functioning Asperger’s told me to take the test on the autism website. I scored within the range (borderline) that indicated that I was ‘high-functioning Asperger’s’. Recently, during the pandemic there are studies that kids not going to school and being exposed to those social situations are suffering from the same kind of ‘a-socialization’ that I experienced during my own self-imposed ‘a-socialization’ period in high school. I may not have Asperger’s, I just never learned how to socialize.
